Why TikTok should be banned at schools  and ages under 16

Hey there my name is Oli and I am a year 8 student from Rutherford Intermediate in Whanganui. Today I’m going to talk about why I reckon we should ban TikTok from schools.

Yes, I reckon we should ban TikTok because it can be bad in some ways for students’ minds. It is called “Dopamine” which causes attitude and you want to be in front of a screen all the time which is bad for you, but there is a solution, screen time which is a time limit on devices which is way really good for our health, too many kids and teenagers are either having a tantrum or getting really mad and giving attitude because they don’t have their devices with them.

So that is why we should ban TikTok from schools, most schools have banned TikTok already from students and teenagers and here are the pros and cons.

The reason why I reckon we should ban TikTok is because you

Here are the pros: I reckon Youtube should not be banned but Youtube is also like TikTok because you can never stop scrolling but teachers and more use it in school for math, english, science and more but Youtube is really helpful for different types of stuff.

Oli – Film Festival

The Film Festival

On September 4th 2025, there was a film festival at school in the community room and our class/ room 1 we made 2 short films, one was called “Sore Winner” and the other one film was called “A Change Of Attitude” were our class 2 movies. There were other short films that were funny and interesting, lots of different types of films. I remember one of the films was Pokemon and another one was someone being a hero and started spelling letters. It was cool.

In the Sore Winner film I was in the rugby part it was cool but kind of embarrassing because I don’t like being on camera, but while we were watching all the films Matua Joel,Matua Ants and Miss Nuku were handing out a cardboard plate kind of and gave us chips, popcorn and ice cream and it was so delicious and I was really happy and hungry so I ate mine a bit fast because it was delicious.

The process of filming is annoying because we had to film basically all the scenes at least 2 or 3 times and I was annoyed but now I know how actors feel because they have to film the same scene lots of times but that is all I have to talk about.

My Weekend.

When I woke up on Saturday I got up out of bed and went to have breakfast. After I had breakfast I went on my PC and played some Fortnite because my parents were awake. Me and my sister had to go to our granddad’s house at 9 o’clock. At 9 we left go to there, then we had a little talk and then my dad left to go back home, after my dad left my granddad said to put on our shoes and go out to go shopping. After we went shopping and we went back home, after we got back home and put the shopping away my granddad said, do you want to go watch fantastic four movie and I said yes and my sister said sure in the boring voice, after we left we go to the movies and it was a great movie and then my cousin stayed the night at my house and we just played game together.

On Sunday when I woke up I went to go have breakfast and watched YouTube while having breakfast, and then my cousin came out and he had a drink of water and then we played Roblox together for a while, then my parents got up and came into my room and said good morning and then I started playing a bit of Fortnite with my friend. I then went to go have some lunch and my dad started playing some Fortnite, then I went back to my room and I had a great rest of my day.

Eating Noodles

One afternoon at 4:50 I had an early dinner and was eating noodles with chicken and vegetables. I was heading to my front porch and was gonna go sit on my chair outside, but my dog was staring at me because he was hungry but it was my food so I didn’t give him any.
